Arc de Triomphe

Journey through the fascinating history of the star-shaped Arc de Triomphe. Commemorate the lives lost during the brutal French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars, and ponder the identity of the unknown soldier of the First World War as you stand respectfully beside his grave. Climb the steep steps to the top of the monument and catch your breath as you enjoy spectacular views of the Champs-Élysées avenue, the Sacré-Coeur and the rest of the bustling city. Imagine for a moment the history this monument has witnessed, including Charles Godefroy’s successful biplane stunt under the Arc in 1919.

Champs-Elysées

Your guide will entertain you with many of the deep-rooted secrets and stories behind the Champs-Élysées. Breathe in the magnificent avenue created from marshland and now an extension of the Louvre’s Tuileries Gardens. Take a solemn stroll along the cobbled Place de la Concorde, which has seen some gruesome but notable public executions, including the execution of King Louis XVI during the French Revolution. Stroll along the tree-lined avenue and its various sculptures, monuments and landmarks that make the Champs-Élysées so remarkable; they include Winston Churchill and L’Immortalité Devant le Temps. There’s entertainment, dining and shopping to be experienced along this 1.9 km stretch.
